The community wiki and Patch Crazy both give the same Basic Rod recipe. Patch Crazy places the First Sea Bookkeeper on Pirate Island near the Clown Boss. The NPC also appears in other seas; see the Bookkeeper guide for locations.
Cast near the water and use the timing meter, then keep the indicator inside the highlighted area to reel in a catch. The community wiki lists three combat-damage upgrade ranks for the rod; the upgrade figures do not establish fishing catch rates.
The community wiki gives different Redbelly quantities in two sections of the rank 2 recipe, so the table preserves both rather than selecting one.
